Olen M. "Mac" Bailey, Jr., is the founding member of The Bailey Law Firm, A Professional Corporation, with more than 35 years of legal experience.  Mac concentrates his practice in the areas of Estate Planning (Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney), Elder Law (Medicaid, Medicare, Veterans Benefits), and Probate (Estate Administration, Trust Administration, Conservatorships, Will Contests, Estate Disputes). He is licensed to practice law in Mississippi and Tennessee.

Mac received his B.A. with High Honors from Millsaps College in 1986, and his J. D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1989. Mac received his Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Elder Law with Honors from Stetson University College of Law in May of 2015.  He is an alumnus of the Institute for Comparative Political and Economic Systems at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., and of the London School of Economics, London, England.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, Mississippi Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, Memphis Bar Association, Memphis Estate Planning Council, National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Professional Network on Aging, and is an Accredited Attorney with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Mac is also an Accredited Estate Planner® (AEP).

While a resident of Jackson, Mississippi, Mac was a mayoral appointee to the City of Jackson Planning Board serving as Chairperson of the Zoning Committee and of the Capital Improvements Plan Committee from 1991 to 1994. He was a member of the Millsaps College Alumni Council, served on the Board of Trustees of the National Kidney Foundation of Mississippi, and was selected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Fondren Civitan Club. Mac also served on the Board and was elected President of his neighborhood association, the Fondren-Cherokee Heights Neighborhood Association, Inc.

After his relocation to Memphis, TN, Mac was elected to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of the West Tennessee Branch and the Tennessee Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. In 1998, he was appointed as Chairperson of the Planned Giving/Major Gifts Committee for the Tennessee Chapter. For 5 years, Mac represented the TN Chapter at the National Arthritis Foundation's Annual Planned Giving Conferences. In 1999, Mac was appointed to serve for a two (2) year term as Chairperson of the West Tennessee Branch Board of Directors of the Arthritis Foundation. Mac served as the 2002-2003 President of the East Memphis Exchange Club and was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Exchange Club Family Center. Mac also was elected to serve as a member of, and provide charitable giving advice to, the Board of Directors of the Bird Dog Foundation.

Mac has served as Assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster and Committee Member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 81 chartered by Independent Presbyterian Church.  Mac also served as Assistant Scoutmaster for the Chickasaw Council troop at the 2019 World Scout Jamboree.  Mac is also a member and Vice President of the Memphis Coin Club, and a member and past Vice President and past President of the Memphis Antique Car Club.  Mac is proud to have been one of the Assistant Coaches for the First Assembly Christian School (FACS) Trap Team.

In 2001, the Memphis Business Journal selected Mac as one of the Mid-South's Top 40 Under 40.  From 2008 to 2013, Mac was named a Five Star Professional Wealth Manager by the readers of Memphis Magazine.  From 2012 to 2024, Mac has been honored to be selected as a Super Lawyer in Estate Planning.  Mac has also been recognized by Memphis Magazine as "The Face of Elder Law" from 2014 to 2024.

Mac and his son, Jackson, co-created the World’s First Legal Comic Universe, Barrister Comics, LLC.  Their “legal comic universe” can be viewed at www.barristercomics.com.

Mac has written articles for, and his advice has appeared in, numerous periodicals and he is a frequent guest lecturer and speaker in the areas of estate planning, elder law, and probate.

Mac is married to Teresa, and they have one son, Jackson.
